Artist's Comments

Texas would never have prospered had it not been for barbed wire. The invention was used so much that even in a nature park, you find remnants of old fences if you look. This barbed wire is very old, not as old as the cattle boom at the beginning of the 20th century, but barbed wire always makes me think of my beloved home state. I saw this post and wanted to see this photo. Luckly, the camera wanted the shot too.

I dont like this one as much as [link] but I still like it.

[link] is the fence I shot the two pic from.

One thing I enjoyed a great deal back in NH is that when hiking in the woods you would find old walls that separated farms, old roads, and often even old foundations. Since there was an established forest around them, you knew they had to be old. It also makes you wonder what the area looked like a couple hundred years ago when there obviously weren't any trees around, but only farms!

I get the same general feelings here, but the funny thing is, I could pitch a stone from this fence and probably hit a passing car. lol

I really like the way you focused on the middle of the wire and let the foreground and background go out of focus....that's a great composition for this piece. Also pay attention to the barbed wire in front of you and never mind the shit on your sides...that's what a cowboy out in VA always told me. This is nostalgic for me. I like it!

Thanks. I've heard similar things. To me though, I try to pay attention to everything. You never know when something you discounted will bite you in the ass. lol
